Copycat – Texas Roadhouse Rolls
Ingredients
4 tsp active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 tablespoon honey
2 cups lukewarm milk
5 tablespoons of melted butter; 3 tablespoons for the dough and 2 tablespoons for brushing on top after the rolls are baked
7 – 8 cups all-purpose flour
2 eggs
2 tsp salt
Directions
Add the yeast, warm water and honey to the bowl of your mixer and lightly whisk. Let the mixture sit for about 10 to 15 minutes until the yeast starts to foam. In your Kitchen-Aid Mixer add the milk, butter, honey, eggs and salt. Mix for a couple of minutes then add the flour, one cup at a time. Add flour until a soft dough forms. Add enough flour until the dough comes clean from the sides of the bowl when mixing. Depending on weather and some other factors such as humidity in your area you might use up anywhere from 6 to 8 cups of flour. Place the mixed dough in a bowl that’s been sprayed with non-stick spray. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled on size. Punch down the dough and let it rise again until doubled. Then turn it onto a floured surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch in thickness. Fold in half and cut into squares. Repeat with remaining dough. Place the rolls on parchment lined baking sheets and let them rise until doubled in size. Once they’ve doubled in size bake the rolls for about 15 to 20 minutes in a pre-heated 350 degree oven until brown. After the rolls have been removed from the oven brush with melted butter.
