German Style Marinated Pork Chops or “Schwenk Steak”
German Style Marinated Pork Chops / Schwenk Steak
4 Pork Shoulder Chops
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
1 medium Onion sliced thinly
1 tablespoon Onion Powder
1 tablespoon Paprika
1/2 tablespoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground Pepper
Directions:
Put the Pork Chops aside. Mix all the other ingredients until well combined. Pour half of the Marinade as well as half of the Onions in a Pyrex Dish. Lay the Pork Chops on top. Then place the remaining Marinade and Onions on top of the Pork Chops. Cover the Dish and refrigerate for at least 24 hours. The Onion flavor and seasonings will infuse the meat and make for a tender and delicious Pork Chop. About 30 minutes before grilling remove the Chops from the Refrigerator. Place the meat over direct heat and grill until done – depending on the meat thickness about 8 – 10 minutes per side. The Pork should be removed from the grill when the temperature reached 145 degrees.
Per FDA website: Meat/Poultry: Cook meat and poultry to these temperatures: Meat: Cook beef, pork, veal, and lamb roasts, steaks, and chops to at least 145° F (63° C), with a 3 minute rest time.
