Homemade Vanilla  

Ingredients

1 liter Vodka

10 – 15 fresh Vanilla Beans

Directions

Split the Vanilla Beans in half lengthwise and place them in the Vodka bottle. Seal and store in a cool, dark place.  For the first 2 or 3 weeks shake the bottle every day to distribute all the vanilla goodness. You should let the vanilla sit for a minimum of 4 weeks before using. I’ve read that the best flavor develops after 6 months but the truth is that I have yet to wait 6 months to use it. The same beans continue to flavor vanilla for up to a year.

  1. I am using this same recipe to make vanilla and give as a xmas gift in small 4 ounce bottles. I have been letting it sit for over 4 months. It’s a good affordable gift!
